[Interview] Ribi Adeshokan, Founder, Nigeria Racing Eagle, London, UK

Ribi Adeshokan is the founder and Team Principal of Nigeria Racing Eagle, the first Pan-African Motorsport team with all drivers to be of African origin, representing Africa at the International Motorsport.

His interview with Africa Business Communities:

Would you please introduce Nigeria Racing Eagle?

Nigeria Racing Eagle is the first Pan-African Racing Team to fly Nigerian Flag and represent Africa at the International Motorsport stage GT World Series. Until recently, Africa was not represented in Mainstream Global Motorsport. We have successfully changed this.

What are the USP’s of your business?

Easy. Uniqueness. No one else is doing what we are doing, to the best of my knowledge.

Since the launch of the team, which was initially a Nigerian Team, the team’s story and vision has inspired millions of people around the world, and has attracted enquiries from people of other Africans countries and Diaspora Africans, wanting to be part of the team as they see the team as pride of Africa and not just Nigeria.

Why did you start Nigeria Racing Eagle?

I started the Motorsport project due to the absence of Africans participation in the world of Motorsport which is a multi-billion dollar a year industry, contributing immensely to global economic growth, technology, world entertainment and human development around the world.

My vision for the project is to use the platform to give African youths the opportunity to learn and build career in diverse fields associated with Motorsport including driving, engineering, management & hospitality. We saw the need for Africa to offer its contribution to the global technology, engineering and innovation.

Nigeria Racing Eagle currently operates out of Africa, mainly in the UK. Do you intend to bring it into Africa?

Yes! Absulutely. We are planning to bring the GT Series race event to Africa for the first time, with the proposed Lagos Marina GT Series, converting Lagos Marina district into a street circuit, which is projected to generate economy of USD$100 million to the African economy.

You have been recognized for your work, have you not?

I have been fortunate to be recognized, yes. I received an African Achievers Award's honour of 100 Outstanding Africans Making A Difference at the Houses of Parliament, London, UK. Basically an award for contribution to the future and development of Africa through Motorsport.

What does the Nigeria Racing Eagle need to grow?

Profitable relationships. Looking for Partnership and investors who are interested in capturing the African market, developing our Game app, merchandise, Motorcity Project, and a lot more activities we have our hands in. There is much to do still.
