Airtel Sierre Leone supports education at N’Jala University
Airtel has supported N’jala University the 2nd largest University in the country to commemorate its 10th Convocation ceremony. Last year, due to the Ebola outbreak the institution could not hold this event. The conferment of Degrees, Award of Diplomas and Certificates for the 2013/2014 academic year ceremony took place in the University’s main campus at Mokondeh, in the South of the country.
The partnership was born out of our desire to promote education in Sierra Leone and to associate our brand with excellence and success in academia. This relationship was formally sealed with an MOU between the Njala University and Airtel Sierra Leone to partner in a host of events and activities including the just concluded Convocation event and included the Provision of Hot spots, and deployment of POS and Branding opportunities in major activites.in the five campuses of the University.
The Pro Chancellor, Professor Sandy Bockarie was the guest of honor amongst many other dignitaries included the Vice Chancellor of Fourah Bay College, COMMAHS, and other heads of tertiary institutions.
The Vice Chancellor and Principal of the University, Professor Abu Sesay in his address spoke highly of Airtel’s partnership with the University at this ceremony and beyond.
Sudipto Chowdhury, Airtel SL MD speaking congratulated the University for its large expansion in academic curriculum and encouraged the grandaunts to face the universe with determination to give back and to utilize their knowledge in the service of the sustainability of the country.
The key highlight of the event was the commitment made by the MD to provide 1000 chairs with desk for the University as they were presently going through tough constrains in terms of sitting arrangements.
