Angola and Namibia Study Reciprocal Investment Protection Agreement

The Angolan and Namibian authorities are studying the possibility of signing a reciprocal investment protection agreement, announced, Thursday, the President of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos.

The Head of State said he was told by his Namibian counterpart of several private business initiatives, including to the field of medicine, that they wish to develop in Angola, which he considers healthy.

He said were discussed various issues relating to the development of economic activity and private investments in both countries.

José Eduardo dos Santos expects to consolidate the traditional ties of friendship and solidarity that bind the two peoples, forged in the common struggle for independence, security and regional peace-building.

He recalled the invitation of the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, to the then leader of SWAPO, Sam Nujoma, because he believed that "in Namibia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, was the continuation of our struggle."
