[Angola] Malanje - Agriculture Boosting Considered Important to Diversify Economy

Participants in the Broad Governing Board of the Agro-Livestock Sector of Malanje province defended the need of boosting the agriculture field in order to contribute to the process of the economic diversification underway the country.

According to the final communiqué of the meeting, closed last weekend, the participants also recommended for the need to take advantage of the farming and fishery potential of Malanje province, so as to foster the region's economy.

They concluded that there is a need of relaunching the production of industrial crops, with emphasis on cotton and the promotion of fish and livestock activity amongst the families.

 

The meeting recommended for the provincial department of Agriculture to continue its efforts, aiming for varietal reconversion of cassava in the municipalities and expand the Oriented-Family Agriculture Project for the Market (Mosap2) throughout the province.

Improving the infrastructure of Agrarian Development Stations (EDA) and their respective equipping in terms of human and material resources also included the conclusions of the Broad Governing Board.

The meeting was attended by heads of Agrarian Development Stations, Oriented-Family Agriculture Project for the Market, coordinators of agricultural projects and provincial supervisors.
