GCB Distributes Solar Lamps To Shareholders

GCB Bank Limited has intervened in the energy needs of its shareholders by providing them with solar lamps to mitigate the effects of the energy situation facing the country.

About 2,500 of the solar lamps, branded in the GCB colours of amber and black with the logo were distributed among shareholders of the Bank at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Accra on Friday, May 22, 2015.

The solar lamp, with five hours of charging, produces 10 hours of soft light or four hours of bright light. It can withstand all weather conditions and can be used both indoors and outdoors.

The distribution was done after a successful AGM where the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank, Mr Daniel Owiredu assured shareholders of the Bank’s commitment to stay on course in paying shareholders their due.

Touching on the Bank’s Community Engagement, the Chairman said the Bank spent GH¢1.4 million in 2014 to support Education, Health, Culture, Environment and Sports.

He announced that a three-classroom block is being constructed by the Bank for the Bomaa Roman Catholic Junior High School in the Tano North District of the Brong Ahafo Region.

This is the second community the Bank is providing with a school even though it has no branch there. The first such project is in Fawoman in the Ahafo-Ano South District in the Ashanti Region in 2013.

The Managing Director of the Bank, Mr Simon Dornoo was happy that the initiatives of the Bank have impacted positively on the lives of many deprived people.
