[Ghana] Reroy Cables CEO joins Entrepreneurs Hall of Fame

Mrs Kate Quartey-Papafio, Chief Executive of Officer (CEO) of Reroy Cables Limited, has been awarded by the Ghana Entrepreneurs Foundation, and inducted into entrepreneur hall of fame, for her outstanding and innovative performance.

Out of the 120 entrepreneurs honoured by the Foundation under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, 25 most outstanding entrepreneurs were inducted into the prestigious hall of fame on Friday.

The Foundation described Mrs Quartey-Papafio as a courageous woman who dared men, and ventured into business generally considered as the preserve for men and foreigners.

Her company manufactures quality electrical and telecom cables and conductors and has grown tremendously over the years, employing over 100 employees.

The company produces local and international markets, and contributes significantly to the growth and development of the country.

The Foundation quotes President John Dramani Mahama as having recognized her perseverance and contribution to the economy, saying, “Ghana belongs to people like Kate Papafio of Reroy Cables who has created jobs and work to strengthen the economy.”

Mrs Quartey-Papafio, who is also the first female cable manufacturer in the ECOWAS sub region, said she was humbled that her hard work has paid off and was being recognised locally and globally.

She encouraged emerging young women entrepreneurs not to give up or abandon their dreams in times of difficulties but remain resolute and committed until they realised those dreams.

“Nothing is impossible, it does not matter what you are doing, I encourage you ladies out there to work hard and pursue your dreams with seriousness and perseverance and you will get there,” she said.

Mr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Minister of Trade and Industry, said government was committed to creating the congenial environment for business to thrive to bolster the economy.

He said government had instituted raft of policies and programmes to ensure businesses operated more efficiently and effectively to create more jobs for teeming unemployed youth for improved living standards.

Launched in 2010, the Ghana Entrepreneur Awards is organised annually by the Foundation to recognize outstanding Ghanaian and non-Ghanaian permanent resident entrepreneurs.

The award serves as a motivation for budding Ghanaian entrepreneurs in small, medium and large enterprises in sustaining economic growth and generating employment in Ghana.
