[Ghana] Vivo Energy and KFC bring quick service restaurant to Kumasi

Vivo Energy Ghana, the company that distributes and markets Shell branded fuels and lubricants, in partnership with Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), a fast food restaurant chain that specialises in fried chicken has opened its first drive-through outlet in Kumasi.

The outlet, which was inaugurated by the first lady, Lady Julia Osei Tutu, wife of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Asantehene is located at Asokwa Shell Service Station and will offer customers food including quick service chicken meals, salads, side dishes and desserts.

At the event to officially inaugurate the restaurant, the Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana, Mr. Ebenezer Faulkner said, “We understand that our customers are looking for more than just a fill-up when they drive to our forecourts and that, ultimately, it’s not just about the quality fuels and lubricants we sell to our customers, but about delivering a complete service station experience.  Across our network we are looking to upgrade our service stations to a modern format and that is why this partnership with KFC - with its well-known and high quality quick service restaurant brands - is so important to us.”

He said the partnership will see Vivo Energy strategically add KFC quick service restaurants to a number of the Shell service stations in Ghana to offer customers the best and most memorable convenience retail experience.

Mr. Faulkner added: “Our service stations are places where customers can go for all their convenient shopping and relaxation needs. We have created an environment that is extremely comfortable and attractive for them to get out of their vehicles to fulfill needs such as the need for a snack, to pick up some groceries, or to use the washroom.

The Managing Director of KFC Africa, Doug Smart, said that KFC is delighted to have partnered with Vivo Energy Ghana allowing it to operate KFC outlets at Shell service stations in Ghana. “This partnership will benefit customers, giving them more convenience, quality and choice. We have a great relationship with Vivo Energy Ghana and are looking forward to increase our footprint in more Shell service stations”, he said.
