Nissan Gains More Foothold In Nigeria With 10% Market Share

Nissan Motors says it has hit a 10 per cent market share mark in Nigeria, increasing the spread of its product range in the country from 4% last year.

The company said this at the opening of a new ultra-modern showroom in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Mike Whitfield, the managing director of Nissan South Africa and President of Nissan in Sub Saharan Africa, who stated this, also hinted that the firm hoped to increase the market share to 13 at the end of the current financial year.

He said this followed the establishment in 2013 of a Lagos-based assembly plant in partnership with the Stallion Group. The plant, which produces an average of 200 units a month, assembles the Nissan Patrol, Almera and NP300 for the local market.
