Samsung Electronics Records 31% Growth In Africa

Samsung Electronics Africa said the African technology market is gaining momentum with the company reporting 31 per cent growth in 2014 and expects that it will see double digit growth with its new solutions and innovations in 2015.

Leigh-Ann April, home appliances product manager, Samsung Electronics Africa, said “Africa is really the next growth frontier for home appliances. At least 40 per cent market demands falls into freezers and refrigerators”. She said new innovations is in robotics home appliances, remote controlled washing machines, smart refrigerators and freezers, triangular air conditioners with 360 degree air flow and cameras and mobile devices.

Vice president and chief operating officer, Samsung Electronics Africa, Mr. George Ferreira said the company is working hard to understand what people need and want and then push the limits of what technology can do to deliver this. “I believe that the products on display here embody this way of thinking and offer our African consumers solutions through new experiences and aspirational products.”

He stated that the company investors, engineering designers, marketers are able to learn about the opportunities in the African retail landscape and ways to optimise sales by studying African consumer purchase behaviour through experience, technology, insights and citizenship wrapped in the theme of the forum.

Ferreira added that they intend to accomplish this with an extensive range of Samsung Ultra High Definition Television (SUHD TVs) for the African market powered by Tizen operating system, which sets a new standard in premium UHD content with 64 times more color expression than conventional TVs including the Curved TVs.
